Do you have notary services?

The Worcester Public Library offers free notary services to Worcester Public Library card holders.

A Notary Public is an individual, appointed by state government, to serve the public as an impartial witness in performing a variety of official fraud-deterrent acts related to the signing of important documents.

If you would like to use the services of our Notary, you must bring your document to the Main Library at 3 Salem Square. To confirm that the Notary Public will be available when you visit the library, please email cstone@mywpl.org or call 508-799-1689.

You must be easily identified by the notary public through satisfactory evidence of identity. This form of proper identification must not be expired. Proper forms of identification include:

  • State ID or Driver’s License
  • U.S. Passport
  • U.S. Military Card
  • Foreign Passport, validated by INS
  • Driver’s License issued in Mexico or Canada

If you do not have a means of proper identification, the Notary cannot witness your documents. If your proper identification is expired, the Notary cannot witness your documents. The document must be signed in front of the Notary. The Notary cannot witness your document if it is not signed in front of the Notary.

If you do NOT have identification, you may bring a Credible Witness known to the Notary who will vouch for you. If the Credible Witness is not known to the Notary, you require two Witnesses, and each must provide a form of proper identification. Credible witnesses cannot have a financial stake in the document you want notarized.

No fees are charged for the services of the library Notary Public for up to 5 pages per month. After these 5 pages per month, there will be a $1.25 per page fee.

The Notary Public at the Worcester Public Library cannot notarize anything to do with real estate or requiring legal counsel. The Notary cannot provide legal counsel. The Notary is not bilingual and will not notarize anything that is not in English.
